Fleas can be a bothersome issue for people with pets, but you don’t have to spend a lot of money on treatments to eliminate them. Here is an easy and affordable way to get rid of fleas using Dawn dish soap and table salt.
Materials Needed:
- Dawn dish soap (original blue formula works best)
- Table salt
- Warm water
- A flea comb
- Towel
Instructions:
- Prepare the Bath:
Fill a bathtub or basin with warm water, ensuring it’s a comfortable temperature for your pet. - Apply Dawn Dish Soap:
Gently lather your pet’s coat with Dawn dish soap, making sure to cover all areas, especially around the neck, tail, and underbelly where fleas tend to hide. - Let It Sit:
Allow the soap to sit for about 5-10 minutes to effectively suffocate the fleas. - Rinse Thoroughly:
Rinse your pet completely with warm water to remove all the soap and dead fleas. - Apply Table Salt:
Sprinkle table salt over carpets, pet bedding, and other areas where fleas might be present. Let it sit for a few hours or overnight, then vacuum thoroughly to remove flea eggs and larvae. - Comb and Dry:
Use a flea comb to remove any remaining fleas from your pet’s fur. Towel dry or blow-dry as needed.
Tips:
- Repeat this process every few days until the flea infestation is fully under control.
- Wash pet bedding and vacuum floors regularly to prevent reinfestation.
This natural flea treatment is a budget-friendly and effective way to keep your pet flea-free!
