Step-by-Step Instructions for Mozzarella-Stuffed Steak with Shrimp
Step 1: Prepare the Steaks
- Lay the steaks flat on a clean surface. Using a sharp knife, create a deep pocket in each steak without cutting all the way through.
- Season the inside and outside of the steaks with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
Step 2: Stuff the Steaks
- Stuff each steak pocket with a slice or two of fresh mozzarella cheese. Ensure the cheese is securely tucked inside.
- Close the opening with kitchen twine or secure it with toothpicks to prevent the cheese from oozing out during cooking.
Step 3: Sear the Steaks
- Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the stuffed steaks and sear for 2–3 minutes on each side until a golden crust forms.
- Reduce the heat to medium, cover the pan, and cook for an additional 4–6 minutes for medium-rare, or longer for your desired doneness. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest.
Step 4: Cook the Shrimp
- In the same skillet, melt the butter and add the olive oil.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Toss in the shrimp, season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using), and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
- Drizzle the shrimp with lemon juice and stir well.
Step 5: Assemble and Serve
- Plate each mozzarella-stuffed steak and top it with a generous portion of garlic butter shrimp.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
