Step-by-Step Instructions for Chinese Chicken Cabbage Stir-Fry
Step 1: Marinate the Chicken
- In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced chicken with soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil.
- Mix well to coat the chicken evenly and set aside to marinate for 10-15 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare the Sauce
- In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and water.
- Stir until well combined and set aside.
Step 3: Stir-Fry the Chicken
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the marinated chicken and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until cooked through. Remove from the wok and set aside.
Step 4: Cook the Vegetables
- Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the wok.
- Add the garlic and ginger, stirring until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
- Toss in the onions, carrots, and cabbage. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened but still crisp.
Step 5: Combine and Cook
- Return the cooked chicken to the wok.
- Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken and vegetables. Stir well to coat everything evenly.
- Cook for an additional 2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and everything is heated through.
Step 6: Garnish and Serve
- Remove the wok from heat and transfer the stir-fry to a serving dish.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for extra flavor.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
