Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Soap Base

  1. Cut the soap base into small cubes for easier melting.
  2. Place the cubes in a heat-safe bowl and melt them using a double boiler or in the microwave (heat in 20-second intervals, stirring each time).

Step 2: Add Lemon Ingredients

  1. Once melted, mix in the coconut oil for added moisture.
  2. Stir in the lemon juice and lemon zest. Ensure the juice is fresh to retain its natural properties.
  3. Add the lemon essential oil for fragrance. Adjust the number of drops based on your desired scent strength.

Step 3: Color and Texture (Optional)

  1. If you’d like your soap to have a vibrant yellow hue, add 1–2 drops of soap-safe yellow colorant.
  2. For a bit of texture, you can add natural exfoliants like poppy seeds or more zest.

Step 4: Pour and Set

  1. Pour the mixture into silicone soap molds. Tap the molds gently to remove air bubbles.
  2. Let the soap cool and harden for about 2–3 hours at room temperature. You can also refrigerate them for faster setting.

Step 5: Unmold and Finish

  1. Once hardened, gently pop the soaps out of the molds.
  2. Trim any rough edges with a knife if needed.

Tips for Storing and Using Lemon Soap

  • Storage: Keep your soap in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve the essential oil’s scent and color.
  • Usage: Use the soap daily for a refreshing, clean feel. Avoid prolonged exposure to water to make the bar last longer.
  • Gift Idea: Wrap the soap in parchment paper, tie with a ribbon, and attach a handmade tag for a perfect gift.
